Not all LASIK procedures are the same. You should understand the differences and the importance of advanced technology.

Bladeless, All-Laser iLASIK

LASIK eye surgery is a two-step process. The first step of the procedure involves creating a protective flap on the surface of the cornea. The traditional method for this step uses a microkeratome, a handheld device that uses a blade. Thanks to advancements in technology and Dr. Solomon's commitment to offering the most advanced technology, he utilizes the precision of a computer-guided cool beam laser to create the corneal flap for a bladeless procedure.

Bladeless iLASIK makes the procedure safer, more precise, and more comfortable than traditional LASIK surgery. In addition, this all-laser technology has given many of our patients the confidence they need to finally get the vision of their dreams.

Approved by all branches of the military for use on their pilots and NASA, this laser delivers micron-level accuracy more than 100 times greater than can be achieved using a microkeratome. It allows Dr. Solomon more control over the procedure and the ability to create a corneal flap with more precise dimensions and thickness. Thanks to this increased level of precision, patients who have been turned down in the past for LASIK due to thin corneas may now be candidates!

Custom LASIK - VISX Star S4 IR Laser

The second step of laser vision correction, reshaping the cornea, uses an excimer laser. Many people are surprised to hear that some surgeons still perform a standard procedure. However, Dr. Solomon has invested in Wavefront technology that allows him to customize your treatment that is 25 times more precise than glasses and contacts.

Originally invented by NASA for use in high-powered precision telescopes, Wavefront technology has been used for Lasik eye surgery since 2005. CustomVue™ laser vision correction is an exciting and precise procedure that incorporates wavefront technology and the patented, FDA-approved VISX laser to create a highly effective, personalized treatment plan for patients.

During your comprehensive consultation, our LASIK team will take a WavePrint™, or 3-D map of your cornea that is as unique to you as your fingerprint. The information from this customized"fingerprint" is transferred electronically to the laser, enabling your eye surgeon to adjust the laser to your unique visual requirements.
